Nup…Hard Hat is not gone. We just had to hit pause.
Why we went away
Hard Hat is made by blue collar workers. Most of us are parents. Between work and home life we don’t have much time to produce this bulletin. A number of factors; burnout, lack of training and other commitments made it so we didn’t have the time or energy to keep going.
Why we’re back
Now more than ever blue collar workers need a way to discuss ideas and build power. The administration of the CFMEU and the failure of the movement against it shows that we need to seriously examine what we are doing. Workers on the job need information on the workers’ struggle so they know why they are fighting when it’s their turn on the picket.
What we’re going to do
We’ve learned from our mistakes. We’ve spent the time when we’re not publishing creating the structures we need to come back stronger.
We’ve learned that we are stronger together. We need to get every blue collar worker we can distributing, writing and doing whatever’s needed to spread the message. That means you too.
We’ve made a distribution system so you can get Hard Hats on your site every month. We’ve got training so you can get the help you need to write about what’s happening on your job. It’s easier than ever to get involved in Hard Hat.
Here to stay?
To be honest, Hard Hat may go away again. Our goal is to reach workers on site and if they’re too disheartened to engage we’ll have to reduce the amount of work we put in. The people who put together Hard Hat will always be in the union movement, fighting for a better future. The bulletin is just a tool to organise and if it’s not working we’ll have to put it back in the box.
So if you want to keep Hard Hat in your life, consider getting involved!

Welcome back comrades. I’m on holidays the next couple of weeks but yell out if I can help.
